Terms of use
These Terms explain how you may use disc.id to make discs easier to return. By using the service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
Who may use the service
You must be at least 13 years old to use disc.id. If you are not old enough to enter into a binding agreement where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review these Terms and allow you to use the service.
The service is intended for a general audience. It is not directed to children under 13.
What the service does
disc.id lets a player create a public URL to write on their discs. If another player finds a disc, they can use the URL to share a photo and pickup details with disc.id, which then notifies the player without exposing their email address.
disc.id is not a tracking, storage, delivery, rescue, emergency, or identity verification service. We do not guarantee that a lost disc will be found, returned, left in a particular condition, or available when a player arrives.
The core service is free. If we offer optional paid features in the future, you will see the price and agree to the charge before paying.
Use the return process responsibly
The return process should remain simple: leave the disc in a safe and lawful place, take a useful photo, add clear pickup details, and submit them so disc.id can notify the player.
- Do not trespass, enter an unsafe area, move a disc somewhere unlawful, or create a hazard.
- Share a location or note that is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- Photograph the disc and pickup area. Avoid faces, license plates, addresses, and other personal information when they are not needed.
- Do not damage, keep, sell, or misuse a disc that belongs to someone else.
Player responsibilities
Players must provide an email address they control, keep it current, and choose a name and URL they have the right to use. Do not impersonate another person or create a URL that is deceptive, abusive, unlawful, or infringes another person's rights.
Players may change their URL. A change takes effect immediately, and discs marked with the old URL will no longer reach the player. The player is responsible for updating every marked disc after a URL change.
Writing a disc.id URL on a disc does not establish ownership. Players are responsible for following course rules, local laws, and manufacturer guidance when marking a disc.
Photos, notes, and location details
You keep any rights you have in content you submit. You give us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, secure, and transmit that content only as needed to operate, maintain, and support the service.
You must have the right to submit the content. We may remove content that is unlawful, harmful, unrelated to a disc return, or inconsistent with these Terms.
Acceptable use
Do not use disc.id to harass, stalk, threaten, deceive, advertise to, or collect information about another person. Do not submit false return reports, malicious files, or automated requests. Do not interfere with the service, bypass security controls, probe for vulnerabilities, or use the service in violation of law.
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. Do not place sensitive personal information in a pickup note or photo. The return page does not require the person returning a disc to provide a name, email address, or phone number.
Availability and delivery
We work to keep the service available, but it may be interrupted, delayed, changed, or discontinued. Poor signal, device settings, email filtering, inaccurate location data, and third-party services can affect delivery. A saved or sent status does not guarantee that a player has read the notice.
We may suspend or remove a URL when needed to protect players, prevent abuse, comply with law, or maintain the service. A player may stop using their URL at any time.
Ownership
The disc.id name, branding, software, site design, and service materials belong to the service operator or its licensors. These Terms do not give you a right to copy, sell, reverse engineer, or create a competing service from protected parts of disc.id.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, noninfringement, or uninterrupted operation. Nothing in these Terms limits a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
Limits of responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, disc.id is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss or damage involving a disc, an unsafe pickup location, inaccurate information, a missed notice, or the conduct of another person.
If we are liable for a claim that cannot be excluded, our total liability is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us during the 12 months before the claim. This limit does not apply where the law does not allow it.
Changes and disputes
We may update these Terms as the service changes. We will update the date below and provide reasonable notice of material changes. Continued use after the updated Terms take effect means you accept them.
If a dispute arises, contact us first so we can try to resolve it. These Terms do not require you to waive rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable law.
